Empowerment of women in low income earning families headed by women, being one of the objective of SAPSRI , an Awareness Programme was organized on SMED Credit extended by SAPSRI. Through this programme they were given a thorough idea on the eligibility for SMED credit, identifying suitable income generating activities, timely repayment of due installments and their responsibilities. 31 members from 8 women organizations in and around Colombo attended this programme.
This programme was coordinated by Mr Mahanama Kaningala, Field Assistant and conducted by Mr Mahinda Wanninayake. With a view to introducing new methods of brick making using cement and clay which is less costly and more profitable, SAPSRI organized a training programme with NERD, Ekala, for 10 members of Medirigiya and Anuradhapura CBOs, who are engaged in traditional brick industry.
Field Coordinators of SAPSRI were provided with an IT Awareness Programme and training on Information Photography using Digital Camera was held at SAPSRI Head Office on July 16 & 17, 2015. Resource persons were Mr. Samadhi Madushanka and Tharanga Mananduwa
Handing over of cheques to loan recipients of SAPSRI CBOs in Galenbindunuwewa, Polonnaruwa , Doraweruwa and Colombo under the SMED Credit Line took place on July 9, 2015 at SAPSRI Head Office.
