On the 28th of February under the Climate Resilient Integrated Water Management Project – CRIWMP (https://www.facebook.com/criwmp), the SAPSRI Project team carried out Stocking Fingerling into the Mahadodangaththawa tank in Maddarabawa Cascade in Nawagattegama, Puttalam District by the help of Farmer Organizations in the area.
This activity aims to remedy the nutrition requirement of rural people and this activity is expected to provide economic benefits to the local fishermen in the area. Further, additional income from fisheries will be used for the maintenance and operational activities of the tank.
This is one of the initiatives under the CRIWMP, which the Ministry of Irrigation implemented with the technical assistance of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the SAPSR’s social mobilization efforts.
