![]() We’re equipping the young people of Sri Lanka to be leaders of social change.
April 2008 – December 2010
The young people of Sri Lanka are the country’s future. This three-year project aims to inspire, train and equip youth to become active citizens and leaders of social change. It will also provide them with employment and entrepreneurial skills. The project will galvanize over 60,000 young people in 32 villages across 4 districts of Sri Lanka by using SAPSRI’s innovative method of cascade training. 120 young people will receive special training as ‘change agents’ and each of them will train a further 800 young people. By the end of the project, we aim to have established an active network of youth that will bring about changes in national policies affecting young people, as well as changes in the lives of the communities they represent. In the past year, 60 change agents have been trained on in leadership and capacity building. They have trained another 540 youth. Together, they have started to organize social, cultural and religious events.
